Mid way through my pregnancy I received results that something was possibly wrong. An amniocentesis comfirmed that my precious son had a rare chromosome abnormality called Trisomy 9. The doctors gave us no hope. We still had hope. We decided to continue the pregnancy. If Corbin were going to pass away we were going to let him do it on his timing. We wanted him to have a chance at life even if that life was only inside my tummy. He was very strong and made it to term.
Corbin Jeffris Divin was born by c-section, on August 24th, 2006 at 7:59am. He weighed 4lbs 9.3oz. He measured 16.5 inches long. He was born with a strong heart beat, but he was unable to breathe on his own. With the help of a breathing tube they got him to breathe. He had however gone some time without and the doctors informed us while they were sewing me up that Corbin would pass away shortly. They bundled him up and put him in our arms. His precious face took my breath away. I kissed him over and again and held him close to me. He was so peaceful as he took the tiniest little breaths. He tried to take a peak at us too. He slept like an angel in my arms, until he became an baby angel himself.
A butterfly lights beside us
